Seven Barrows trainer Nicky Henderson was glad about the recent schooling session that his team for the Cheltenham races 2019 received at Newbury racecourse on Sunday. His team, which is composed of Santini, On The Blind Side, and Might Bite, jumped ten fences and had a spin up the straight.
Henderson said that his horses needed the training, especially his two novices, On The Blind Side and Santini. The two will be participating in the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase.
According to Henderson, Santini is in excellent condition and was originally planned to run in the Reynoldstown at Ascot before being forced out. On the other hand, On The Blind Side opened his account at Kempton last January following his poor first performance over fences at Cheltenham Festival races. When the horse went to Kempton, he took quite some warming up. During the schooling session, On The Blind Side showed the same performance over the first few fences, but he was really good the second time around.
Meanwhile, Might Bite is in good shape these last few weeks and performed well on the said session. Henderson said the horse is expected to perform even better in the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup compared to the past 12 months.
