Nicky Henderson, a champion racehorse trainer, admitted that he’s struggling with the preparations for the Cheltenham festival races that will happen next month. Two of his runners in the festival named Verdana Blue and Santini won’t be able to race over the weekend following the new vaccine rules set by the British Horseracing Authority. These have been implemented when the races resumed in the UK after a six-day suspension due to the equine flu crisis.
He added that the current situation they’re facing is very tricky and all of them are having a hard time. Each horse now follows a different regime, and they also need to rest for a few days. Despite this, they are dealing with everything from day to day. Because as a trainer, he believes that this is the right thing to do. He also hopes that racing fans, providers of Cheltenham festival tips, and the whole public will trust that trainers know what they’re doing.
Nicky Henderson, along with fellow trainer Dan Skelton, are currently leading this season’s trainer standings. They claimed that the Cheltenham festival 2019 will still remain as an exciting event despite the equine flu outbreak. Skelton also mentioned that lots of people are still looking forward to the festival. And even though their preparations have changed, their plans for the event did not.
